The first hippies?

I am convinced that the first Christians were hippies... And I love this.

I don't mean the drug/sex kind of hippie.
I do mean the love, peace, what's mine is yours, let's get rid of everything and live with nature kind of hippie.

I am reading through Acts right now, a lot that I have read so far is about the church right after Jesus. And by the church I mean the people who follow Jesus. What I have been reading is about all of the ways His followers were teaching and living out His love.

In Acts 4:32 (ESV) it says that, the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common.

Pretty hippie-ish of them isn't it? I can just picture the thousands that were there all hanging with each other in an area, selling everything they had (house, land, etc.) and helping everyone out around them.

I think that is how the church should be today. A bunch of people who love to help those around them. Even if that means selling their possessions to do it. This is how you show great love and have peace (one heart, one soul, one mind) with everybody.
