Out of My Hands

It’s in our nature to be prideful. In some people of course it is worse than in others. I am sure you can think of someone right now that is very prideful. Maybe it is you yourself… I know I have had to deal with pride many times, maybe it’s just the fact that I am a male and almost feel I need to be prideful… That’s just a side thought though.

Pride can keep you from great things. That is a fact. No doubt. The question is what is your pride keeping you from? A closer relationship with someone you love and care about? A closer relationship with God? A closer relationship with yourself?

I think that one big reason our pride is such a big deal to us is because we don’t want to look weak or not in control of our feelings or what is going on inside of us. We care too much about an image we have created about ourselves... What does God see us as? What is the image we give him? What is the image we give others about God through us?

Is it really worth looking tuff in order to please a false picture of ourselves? I would think no, but then again I have struggled with pride my whole life. It is hard to put things in God’s hands and trust and have faith that it will all work out. Easy to say… Hard to do…

We as humans want to be able to figure everything out on our own; we don’t need any help from anyone. Not from a friend with some good advice, or even from a God with all the answers. We stress ourselves out over matters and burdens that he wants to help carry and bring us through. We get so busy and caught up in our own lives we forget to include God in it and seek and do what he has called us to do. We stop trying to hear his voice and do what will be best for him. Instead we do what we think is best for ourselves. In actuality though, if we do and take the path of what is best for God’s Kingdom than we are doing what is best for us as well.

We just can’t put our guard down though. We can’t let ourselves look weak. We can’t fully trust a higher being. We can’t trust God… We can’t trust Jesus…Because if you think about it that is the real issue isn’t it? Not being able to fully trust God. How can we survive?
