What do you consider the greatest thing about you?
Are you the greatest thing about you?
It's no surprise that we are all selfish people. We always want someone to notice or know of something we've done for them or someone else. If you look inward, deep down, you know it's true. We are human, it's in our fallen nature.
Think of a time when you helped someone and didn't get a big thank you, or maybe nothing at all. They took the credit for something you did. What happened? You probably got mad and had a little resentment towards that person. Maybe even stopped caring about them all together because they did you wrong and took advantage of you.
What does God do when we do this same thing to Him, everyday?
He doesn't resent us.
He doesn't stop caring for us.
He loves us.
It's so easy for us to get caught up in everything and give ourselves the credit for what we accomplish.
We think it is by our strength and ability we can do things.
We become prideful and selfish.
We steal the glory away from God and give it to ourselves.
This is one of the biggest things I struggle with. I want to get things done, and end up putting all the pressure on myself to do things.
All this does is just cause stress and fill us with pride.
I make myself bigger in my life and God smaller. I think we all do this though, in certain areas of life. God wants us to give the things to Him. Yes we need to give it our all, but we can only do so much.
We are limited. God is limitless.
He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. (John 3:30, NLT)
Notice this isn't something that we could do, or need to try to do. It's something we MUST do. God knows if we don't do this, we will become selfish, and prideful. If we don't do it, we are slowly destroying ourselves.
We need to focus more on God and less on ourselves.
Give everything our all and have faith that He will do the rest.
Have faith that His strength will be there to help us accomplish all things for His glory.
